Thomas Jefferson Memorial

This neoclassical presidential memorial in West Potomac Park along the Potomac River was built around 1943 in honor of Thomas Jefferson, who was the principal author of the United States Declaration of Independence, a central intellectual force behind the American Revolution, founder of the Democratic-Republican Party, and the nation's third president.
