This wilderness area in Iceland's Vatnajökull National Park contains the huge glaciers of Skaftafellsjökull and Svínafellsjökull, Kristínartindar Mountain and the Svartifoss waterfall, Morsárdalur Valley and the Bæjarstaðarskógur woodlands. Öræfajökull Volcano in the east is known for its ice-capped peak, Hvannadalshnúkur.
