Santuario de Las Lajas (Las Lajas Sanctuary)

This Catholic basilica church is famous for a purported miraculous event in 1754, when the Virgin Mary appeared to a woman and her deaf-mute daughter at the same place where the church now stands. Later when the daughter died, she was miraculously revived by the Virgin, prompting both mother and daughter to build a shrine in the Virgin Mary's honor, which has now been expanded and attracts thousands of pilgrims every year.
