Mafate

This giant caldera was formed from the collapse of the large shield volcano the Piton des Neiges and is entirely enclosed by mountains, especially tall cliffs. It is a major attraction for hikers due to its unspoiled nature and stunning views from the adjacent Maïdo peak.
