This radio astronomy observatory located in rural New Mexico consists of 28 enormous operational radio telescopes arranged in a Y formation (1 of which always rotates through maintenance). The VLA has been used by astronomers since its inception in 1973 to observe our universe and has made key observations and scientific breakthroughs.
