Jaipur
This historic city was founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh and is a popular tourist destination in India, part of the Golden Triangle tourist circuit. It got its nickname “The Pink City” when Maharaja Ram Singh had most of buildings painted that color of hospitality in 1876 to welcome Britain's Queen Victoria. It is known for its many bazaars, forts, temples, palaces, and wildlife sanctuaries, and is also the main gateway to many attractions in the state.
