Founded in 1538 by Spanish conquistador Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, this city contains numerous cultural and art places of interest, including the Botero Museum, the Gold Museum, the Maloka Museum, the Cerro Monserrate, the botanical garden José Celestino Mutis, the Quinta de Bolívar, the national observatory, the planetarium, plus many others.
